The fertile land of Biratnagar (बिराटनगर), has a harmonious and powerful ancient history which indeed goes back to the very dawn of the human civilizations.
During the ages and civilizations, it remained a ground which gave birth to many great people who spread the messages of love, peace, brotherhood, and humanity throughout the length and breadth of the globe.
The region is believed to be a part of the kingdom of Virata, mentioned in the Hindu epic Mahabharata. In the ancient time the Kingdom of Virata, earlier as Gograha Bazaar which is now called Biratnagar recognized as one of the oldest city of Nepal. In Nepali “Birat” means huge and “Nagar” means a place or a city.
It is famous for industry, commerce, and agriculture in Nepal as most of the manufacturing industries are located in this region. It is currently the second most densely populated city (after Kathmandu).
Biratnagar has been the most politically powerful city of Nepal, gifting a subtotal of five prime ministers along with hosting some of the most revolutionary incidents in Nepal.
